Lula Arrested in Brazil
Former president Luiz Inácio da Silva, 72, was placed under arrest on Saturday (the 7th) after turning himself in to the Federal Police. More than 48 hours had passed since the issuing of the detention order by federal judge Sergio Moro and Lula’s arrest. Lula was condemned by Judge Moro in the Guarujá triplex apartment case.
FSC Denies Lula Habeas Corpus
On Wednesday (the 4th) in a vote of 6 to 5, the Justices of the Federal Supreme Court denied a request for habeas corpus to former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in order to stay his imprisonment. The result against the PT Party leader had been expected ever since the 5th vote was cast by Justice Rosa Weber.
